Respect In Sport - Parent
RESPECT IN SPORT ONLINE COURSE
Hockey Calgary requires one parent for each registered child to complete the Respect In Sport (RIS) Parent Course. This online course takes about an hour to complete (not needed to be completed in one sitting). At the completion of the course, you will get a RIS# that you will enter in the 'Child Management Section' . This then will be on your child's profile in the Hockey Canada Registry Database. (I cannot do this step for our parents). This RIS# will be a component of the team roster.
Players who are missing this RIS# will not be permitted to be on the ice after this date per Hockey Calgary regulations.
There is now a $12 fee to take the course. Crowfoot Hockey will reimburse this fee to those who drop off their receipt of fees paid (indicate your name, address, child's name and division on the receipt). Drop off in the blue drop off box in the Crowfoot Arena lobby.
If you have completed the course in prior seasons for your other children, please follow these instructions to add your 'new to hockey' child with your RIS # (I can retrieve your RIS# if you provide me with the name of the sibling). You do not need to retake the course.
- Go to the link and sign in and open "Child Management" under profile and enter all children you are registering in hockey. Children must be listed here in order to associate your completing this certification with your child's Hockey Canada record. To aide with connecting your certification to your child's record, children's names should be entered using the same spelling as when they were registered with Hockey Canada, for example if he is Robert do not chose to put him in Respect in Sport as Robbie. Please choose (Crowfoot÷ as the Association. Here is the link https://hockeyalbertaparent.respectgroupinc.com
If you are coaching, a (Coach÷ Respect in Sport online course is required. This online course is $31.50 (reimbursed as above). See the (Coach÷ tab for more information.
RESPECT IN SPORT - PARENT PROGRAM
The Respect in Sport Parent Program is an effective and informative online training program for parents of active children. This one hour online certification program reinforces a parents role in a child or youth's activities, encouraging positive sport behaviours, and providing insight into the various roles other individuals (such as coaches and officials) play. This program empowers parents to ensure the safety of their children, encourage positive and effective communication, and to enhance a child's fun and camaraderie of the activity.
The number one reason cited for coaches, managers and officials of all ages leaving a sport is unacceptable parent behaviour. Let the Respect in Sport Parent Program help assert proper parent behaviours to create a more rewarding, safe and respectful environment for all parties involved.
Please go to the link and register a new user in your name not your child's. Enter your profile information and then open "Child Management" and enter all children you are registering in hockey. Children must be listed here in order to associate your completing this certification with your child's Hockey Canada record. To aide with connecting your certification to your child's record, children's names should be entered using the same spelling as when they were registered with Crowfoot Hockey, for example if he is Robert do not chose to put him in Respect in sport as Robbie. Choose the (Crowfoot÷ Association.
Now go to English or French and complete the approximately one hour course. The course does not need to be completed in one sitting. Once the certification is complete and you have attached your child/children's name, DOB and Hockey Association in Child Management it should automatically connect your completion of this program with your Child's Hockey Canada profile.
If you have taken the Lacrosse RIS online course, email admin@crowfoothockey.com with this info as you do not need to take the (Hockey RIS÷. All other sports associations do not apply.
